Violin

Tressa from Illinois requested the Chinese translation for “violin” as in “the cute violin player caught my eye”…  *cheesy smile*

…  where essentially the first character means “small,” the second character means “to lift” or “to hold” using your hand, and the third character refers to a “string instrument.”  The second and third characters together oftentimes refer to the “cello.”
