Sacrifice
Eric from Michigan requested the Chinese translation for “sacrifice” as in “I am a member of the team, and I rely on the team, I defer to it and sacrifice for it, because the team, not the individual, is the ultimate champion”… Mia Hamm, soccer player… if you ask me, more guys in the NFL and NBA could learn a thing or two from Mia’s mantra.

… where the first character is one of those characters that typically gets paired up with other characters to make sense, but in this context can insinuate “sacrifice” and the second character means “animal.” So loosely, this translates as “sacrifice an animal”… which is in reference to where the term originated (i.e. ancient rituals and ceremonies)… tho it is typically used in a more generic sense these days.
