Older Sister

Annette from Maine requested the Chinese translation for “older sister.”  ‘Tis been a while since I got a family type request…  simple enough, here you go.

…  where essentially the first character means “older sister” and it’s typically repeated twice similar to how “ma” or “pa” can be repeated twice as “mama” or “papa” respectively.

Want to see these characters embroidered on a women’s or unisex t-shirt?  Or on a women’s or unisex tank top?  Click the appropriate preceding link.  Got a translation request of your own?  Contact me!

Phew. I have this character on my lower back, and although I only have the one, it’s nice to be reassured that the dictionary I found it in was correct.

Kylie, as I mentioned in my post, it’s done twice similar to how we say “papa” or just “pa.” It’s a matter of style, but in general, doing it twice is more common.
