Annette from Maine requested the Chinese translation for “older sister.” ‘Tis been a while since I got a family type request… simple enough, here you go.

… where essentially the first character means “older sister” and it’s typically repeated twice similar to how “ma” or “pa” can be repeated twice as “mama” or “papa” respectively.

Looking for “younger brother and older sister ” Japanese Kanji. My sister and i got tattoos of these kanjis and I think that they got them wrong. Please help.

Phew. I have this character on my lower back, and although I only have the one, it’s nice to be reassured that the dictionary I found it in was correct.

Kylie, as I mentioned in my post, it’s done twice similar to how we say “papa” or just “pa.” It’s a matter of style, but in general, doing it twice is more common.
